Ultrasound-based skin tightening, including Ultherapy®, is a non-surgical procedure that uses ultrasound energy in selected layers beneath the skin’s surface in a clinical setting.

Any change in appearance, and how noticeable it is, varies between individuals and cannot be guaranteed.

What may be discussed in consultation

For suitable individuals, consultation may address concerns relating to:

  • the appearance of skin support in areas such as the brow, jawline, under-chin, neck or chest

  • the appearance of skin firmness

  • the appearance of facial or neck contours

These concerns are assessed during consultation to determine whether any cosmetic procedures may be appropriate.

How treatment planning works

During consultation, your practitioner will:

  • review your medical history, medications and relevant health information

  • examine the treatment area and skin characteristics

  • discuss your concerns and expectations

  • explain the possible procedure, its limitations and alternative options, including choosing not to proceed

If considered appropriate, ultrasound skin tightening may be performed using a device with imaging to:

  • visualise underlying structures in the treatment area

  • deliver ultrasound energy to selected depths beneath the skin

Treatment planning, including energy settings, treatment areas and the number of sessions, is determined after consultation and clinical assessment.

In some cases, your practitioner may recommend an alternative approach or no procedure.

Complimentary Laser Genesis with Ultherapy

For appointments booked in May 2026, a complimentary Laser Genesis treatment is included with any Ultherapy booking, subject to clinical suitability assessed during consultation.

Laser Genesis is a non-ablative laser treatment. When discussed alongside Ultherapy during consultation, a practitioner may consider it as a complementary option to address skin quality and tone. Suitability for both treatments is assessed individually.

Safety, Risks and Aftercare

All cosmetic procedures carry risks and may not be suitable for everyone.

Before any procedure is performed, your practitioner will:

  • review your medical history, medications and relevant health information

  • examine the treatment area

  • explain the proposed procedure, limitations and alternatives, including choosing not to proceed

  • discuss possible risks and side effects, including less common but more serious complications

Risks associated with procedures may include:

  • redness or swelling

  • dryness or peeling

  • skin sensitivity or irritation

  • pigmentation changes

  • infection or delayed healing

  • temporary muscle weakness

  • uneven or unexpected aesthetic outcomes

Pain and comfort levels vary between individuals and depend on the procedure used. Some procedures may cause sensations such as warmth, tingling, tightness, discomfort or pressure during or after treatment.

Written aftercare instructions will be provided if treatment is performed.

  • No. Ultrasound-based treatments are non-surgical and are not a substitute for surgical procedures. They may offer a cosmetic option for selected people with mild to moderate concerns, but they do not replicate the results of surgery. Your practitioner may suggest referral to a surgeon or another specialist where appropriate.

  • In some cases, ultrasound skin tightening may be combined with other non-surgical treatments as part of a broader plan, if this is considered clinically appropriate. Any combination will be planned with attention to timing and safety.

  • You will receive specific instructions based on your treatment. This may include avoiding excess heat and strenuous exercise for a short period, using gentle skincare and applying SPF 50+ during the day. Your practitioner will outline what to do and when you can resume your usual routine.
